MD Collective Launch
What a whirlwind the last two weeks have been since our unveiling and launch of the Modern Day Collective rebrand, and website! Thank you for following along and encouraging this monumental change for us. We can’t wait for what the future holds, and are excited you all will be a part of it, in one way or another.
If you read our last blog post (here), you know full well that this new site was a true labor of love, and one that was literally years in the making. The few days leading up to launch (and party!) day were a grind to the finish, thanks to the help of the incredibly talented Myrna and Laura. We had a few speed-bumps, but ultimately we know that it was all in God’s hands. There were certain things that didn’t come to light until the very morning of our launch day, which unexpectedly launched us into full-speed crazy mode to make it all happen… but thank goodness it did. The result, was so worth it!
Our production warehouse location was partially transformed to accommodate some of our closest family, friends, and industry peers. We could not be more grateful for those of you who took time out of your day to help us celebrate! It was an evening that will go down in history for our new Modern Day Collective brand. A huge thank-you to our dear friend Kellie Hetler for capturing this important day for us so beautifully!
Of course, we are in the business of pretty, so we definitely wanted to bring an element of warm coziness to our otherwise industrial warehouse space. However, we did want people to still be able to view bits and pieces of our warehouse because after all, this is where the magic actually happens! THIS is where the hearts and hands of Modern Day Collective work. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our sweet friends at Rentals by I Candy, Event Theory, Alpine Rent-All, and Special Occasions Linens for helping us zhoosh up our humble abode.
Just the day prior to our party, we had an exciting client design rendering at our location. The girls started to tear it all down, until we thought, “Why not showcase what we really do here?”. It served as the perfect entrance decor to the party. Check out that lush texture and delicious color palette! You’ll get to see more come late August - featuring fabulous rentals from Event Theory, Special Occasions Linens, and Fancy Fray.
Is it ever really a Modern Day party without a massive charcuterie display? (The answer is NO). Of course we called upon our favorite cheese people at Aperitivo to bring us the king of all charcuterie platters to serve our people! Fun fact - that humongous white table in the middle of the room? It was an art display piece at the Grand Rapids Art Museum that we were gifted, and repurposed into our workshop space! It’s the perfect place for invitation assembly, hands-on floral workshops, rendering displays… or lots and lots of cheese.
The amazing pastry chefs at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel spoiled us rotten with the most delectable bite-sized desserts. Macaron heaven! We were not mad at all that there were so many leftovers after the party.
We knew that our guest list had out-grown our space, so our main guy Mike at Event Theory helped us pitch a tent, heat it up, and hang some pretty Pottery Barn chandeliers to house our bar. The cocktails served by Punch were out of this world! I’m still craving that Garden State specialty drink featuring cucumber, lime, and gin… yum!
The lights were dimmed, candles lit, cheese sliced, drinks poured, and doors opened to welcome the very special people in our life. We started with a toast, and moved in to view the official launching of our new website - Modern Day Collective. Overwhelming tears of joy were shared, along with so many wonderful words of encouragement and love. Once the official business was taken care of, it was time to party. We were so honored to have Brena there to rock the house down - MAN can they sing!!
Friends, words can not describe our gratitude to you for your support - whether we work with you on a daily basis, only once for an event, follow each other on social media, or even if you’re just reading this post… thank you. We’re already trying to brainstorm another reason for us throw the next amazing party with the people we love most. Cheers!
